There you were, swelling, shivering, panting, between the legs of someone that would _mean_ more then than anything at any moment since, and yet you can't quite even recall this feeling of _meaning_ that made such a declaration possible, but it doesn't matter, because you're oceanside, you domed a butter-glazed lobster hours prior, you're radiating the heady glow of Épernay, your loins on fire, promise for your sexual health courtesy the bath tub warm salt water you've been smoothing out your serotonin roller coaster in, it's 2011, ain't no late bill notices from the mobile provider, no cavities, no nags, no bores, and a surreal, tribal drumbeat, flanked by mounting harmonies, the furry, sweeping chemtrails of a Reganomical era long gone, enters your ears--it's Montreal duo Footprintz' single "Utopia"--and it's not only fittingly titled, but it's silkily scoring the ascent of said globby, tropical sun as it climbs up and over the horizon like a parachuting, orgasmic array of Haribo special edition and Teletubby baby batter. Listen, it's magic. And this epic tune, it pours, like the sun that accompanies it, over the writhing bodies, the forgotten freedoms, the debts, the inevitable expiration of electronic as it relates to analog, and all is suspended; a moment passes, the party throbs, and in light of this jam's insistence on pushing this particular morning's parting ecstasy into timeless, dizzying oblivion, you're months later styled in white skinny suits at a bar in Montreal featuring plants born of the very tropical locales from which this reverie was seeded, the EP is behind you, and you're in the pages of the downright naughtiest publication in print in celebration of your inaugural LP, _Escape Yourself_ via Visionquest. Bam! You the raver just became you the reader just because you the synth duo just became you the styled and talked about just became one of the better tickets in town. So turn up the warmth, inject the heat, apologize for being selfish, for being nostalgic, and remember long, post-depletion grocery-packed aisles of gauzy drift and rift. Footprintz \[Clarian North and Adam Hunter\] are here, hear.
Here's their explanation.
_Why are orgasms so powerful, and what memories do you possess that best serve orgasms in relation to music?_
The pleasure of music and the pleasure of the orgasm are the same. They are powerful because they were, or were not, invented by the Ancient Egyptians who may, or may not, have used stardust extract from sun explosions.
_Why is dancing, or is it, imperative for enthusiastic organ operation? How come?_
By organ operation, are you referring to the liver or the kidney?
_What is lucidity to you?_
Lucidity, for an artist, is a little recognition that your celebrated works are inspired accidentally.
_Time capsule for 50 years from now that represents Escape Yourself?_
One bottle of Jameson, one pack of smokes, one Yamaha CS 80, and a version of us who's relatively interested in a world 50 years from now.
_What does escape mean to you?_
Escape means freedom, even if we're going from the pit to the pendulum.
