Doom metal duo Divide and Dissolve, made up of Takiaya Reed and Sylvie Nehill, are working to decolonize music, dismantle white supremacy, and uplift black and indigenous voices. The heavy hitting instrumentation cuts deep and aims to decenter the listener. “Prove It’ is an existential experience of remembrance. An exclamation that we would like to observe a radical shift in the current paradigm of complacency in regards to oppressive power dynamics, genocide, racism, white supremacy,  and colonisation. ‘Prove it’ aims to give weight and validation to voices that are traditionally misrepresented and criminalised before given a chance to speak. The undoing of anticipated failure and negative outcomes." Their new album hopes to do exactly that. “Prove It” and the upcoming album are both produced by Ruban Nielson of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, who the duo will join on the West Coast stretch of their tour.
