What makes a man? After the New York premiere of Frankenstein, Netflix’s latest gothic epic directed by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth, audiences may have left the theater with a clearer idea of how to make one themselves. Tiffany & Co., in collaboration with Netflix, hosted an afterparty worthy of the question — complete with the glitz and glamour that pair so naturally with the magic of Hollywood in New York City.
While the premiere had ended, del Toro’s haunting visual world lived on through the night. Tiffany & Co.’s Landmark location on Fifth Avenue was transformed into the heart of Victor Frankenstein’s laboratory—dark, window-filled, and drenched in blue light, with a white wedding gown as the centerpiece. Archival Tiffany jewels, worn by Goth in the film, shimmered alongside original costumes and striking photographic stills, bringing each character’s torment and beauty into vivid focus.
Guests sipped on Frankenstein-themed cocktails and sampled an array of decadent hors d’oeuvres as DJ Tiana Verhagen curated the venue’s soundscape. Notable attendees included del Toro himself and the film’s stars, alongside esteemed chef Daniel Boulud and artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel — a fitting mix of artists who understand, in their own ways, the act of creation.
By the night’s end, surrounded by light, glass, and a hint of gothic mystery, the question lingered: if Tiffany & Co. can make diamonds come alive and del Toro can breathe new life into an old monster, perhaps what makes a man is not the spark itself, but what he chooses to do with it.
