Louis Tomlinson is back and bigger than ever with the release of third solo album, How Did I Get Here? out now via BMG. It’s a bold and groovy record, confident and sonically cohesive as Tomlinson enters a new era in his career.
Tomlinson wrote and recorded the majority of How Did I Get Here? in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, alongside frequent collaborator and co-producer Nico Rebscher in early 2025. Tomlinson took inspiration from the vibrant surf town, crafting a high-energy yet vulnerable collection of tracks.
On “Imposter,” Tomlinson dives into his experiences with imposter syndrome. He sings, “I don't really know who I am anymore / I think there's a stranger in my bed / I am the imposter,” drawing a comparison between feeling insecure in a relationship to feeling fraudulent in the public eye. The track offers a raw glimpse into the pressures of identity, both private and public.
Lead single and album opener “Lemonade” is a highlight on the album, bringing bright and buzzy production to a song about an all-consuming love affair. It’s a track to blast en route to a day at the beach, or to soundtrack a long drive with friends, windows down and sun overhead.
In the nearly four years since the release of his last record, 2022’s Faith in the Future, Tomlinson focused on a rigorous expansion of his artistry.
“I find it impossible to be complacent; it’s not in my vocabulary,” Tomlinson says. “For the first time now, I’m allowing myself to be the artist I’d always hoped to be.”
Tomlinson will hit the road in March 2026, kicking off his How Did We Get Here? Tour in Europe before heading to North America in June. Tickets are on sale now.
