British artist and producer James Blake brought the Greek Theatre to a standstill during his Trying Times Tour. Showcasing his most intimate instincts, Blake curated an evening of songs that seamlessly moved between piano confessions, soulful vocals, adventurous electronics, and captivating R&B. His music, oscillating between fragility and force, created a palpable atmosphere, especially as his voice contrasted beautifully against the night sky.

Marking his first independent studio album, Trying Times expands Blake’s sonic palette while refining the emotional architecture of his previous work. Throughout the album, Blake is unflinchingly honest, allowing warped harmonies and deep bass to convey the pressures of his private and public life. Eschewing spectacle, he hovers gracefully between uncertainty and confidence, all while preserving the intimacy that has long defined his artistry.
