Carolina Herrera took over Plaza Mayor in Madrid to display the label’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Reimagining the radical Spanish cultural wave of the 80s, La Movida, in the opulent light of Madrid’s golden age, the presentation is comprised of timeless silhouettes embellished with the character of Madrid itself. With references to the Carnation, Violetta and Retiro Rosaleda, the brand reimagines the era of its own genesis.
A color story of electrifying reds and vibrant florals works in unison with the label’s signature “happy” polka dots and innately feminine silhouettes. The result: an elegant and unapologetically girlish collection of ready to wear pieces. The show’s pink runway brings with it a playful energy further emboldened by layered tulle and ruffled gowns.
The collection invigorates wardrobe staples like the clutch or a white shirt, turning them into central parts of each configuration. A bag, earrings or a neck piece integrate seamlessly into the looks, calling into question their very existence as accessories.
Palomo, the Spanish house founded by Alejandro Gómez, brings a dramatic ethos to Carolina Herrera's Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The collaboration brings the iconic Herrera white shirt to life in five new ways, through a distinctly Madrileño lens. A sheer, collared cape ensemble embodies the hedonistic spirit of La Movida.
The runway presentation, led by Creative Director Wes Gordon was a marvelous portrait of a timeless brand.
