MIETIS | Please Do Not Enter

by Niza Metoyer

Please Do Not Enter is bringing the world of MIETIS to LA as they debut in the US. MIETIS is a Spanish based brand that uses high quality leather in a unique way combining the best quality craftsmanship and original designs.

Emmanuel Renoird and Nicolas Libert, owners of Please Do Not Enter, discovered the label during Paris Fashion Week 2017. They were captivated by the focus on only leather clothing. MIETIS comes across similar to that of French brand Jitrois that showcases structured leather ensembles, however Renoird saw it as an updated version with a more feminine contemporary look.

Formed in 2017 by Maria Fontanellas in Barcelona, the label is produced by her families company Fontanellas y Martí. Run by three generations since 1954, the family leather tanning traditions inspired her to reinvent leather with modern design.

Inspired by Barcelona art deco architecture the garments contain structure and elegance while maintaining the integrity of the leather. The release at Please Do Not Enter also sees an installation with the Argentinian artist Pilar Zeta, a musician and artist playing with 80’s Memphis and post modern computer designs. MIETIS is targeting all kinds of women while focusing on those who have an appetite for new and innovative things, those that value self expression and sustainability.

The exhibition will open November 7, from 6-9pm, and will be on view until December 7, 2018 Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 6pm
643 North Flores Street Los Angeles CA 90069
