Over this past week, Swedish powerhouse, [H&M](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/index.html), held a star-studded event to celebrate the unveiling of their new _Conscious Exclusive_ collection, an initiative meant to bring sustainable garments to the everyday consumer. Attending guests included names of the industry, such as: Irinia Shayk, Dakota Fanning, Rowan Blanchard, Halima Aden, Camila Morrone, Abigail Spencer, Amber Valetta, Alek Wek, and Emmanuelle Chrique, among others. With the line, the brand debuted three new textiles: **BLOOM™ Foam (“a flexible foam made from algae biomass”, Piñatex® (a leather alternative made from “pineapple-leaf fibers”, and Orange Fiber® (a fabric made from “citrus peel from juice production”).** In a day-and-age being so directly affected by “fast” fashion and its waste output, it’s a huge triumph to see a brand with such large influence taking initiative. Moving forward, this sort of research is much needed if we are to sustain today’s fashion climate. The production of our everyday garments directly impacts the natural world that we _all_ inhabit—the inspiration at the heart of this collection. Taking note of the majesty that surrounds us, the collection’s garments are primarily comprised of feminine, flowy silhouettes and colorful jacquards. The airy sensibility behind their design mirrors nature and its beauty, a world we intend to preserve. By bringing this matter to the masses, H&M has affirmed that this initiative is not divisive by economics. Sustainability is not exclusive to “high” fashion; this is everyone’s home, and as so, it’s maintenance should be _everyone’s_ priority. * * * Photos courtesy of [H&M](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/index.html)
