Flaunt Premiere | "After You" by Plastic Picnic
What's a beach day like for you? Going seaside typically calls forth images of fun in the sun or an ultra-relaxing beach bum day of sorts. A Brooklyn-based indie rock band Plastic Picnic offers a different take. In their new music video for “After You”, shot by Hunter Airheart, the quartet takes a moody-melancholic trip to New York’s Rockaway Beach.
Rather than soaking up the summer sun and relaxing in the sand, Plastic Picnic cries out to a former lover in a video that is equally both dramatic and thrilling. Crashing waves, sharp winds and slow-motion close-ups come together to ponder on what happens after someone you love is gone.
“It's a song about seeing the road you're on while also looking out at the paths or exits spread before you,” the band explains. “It embraces the exhilaration of leaning into the unknown and asking yourself if you should take that leap.”
“After You” is a single from their upcoming EP Vistalite set to release on July 19. Dedicated to making “sad music to dance to,” Plastic Picnic takes a leap from their 2017 self-titled debut EP and hint at a move towards a more mature sound, all while keeping their overall synth-pop style intact.
Today, we premiere their latest video along with some exclusive BTS images the band has shared with us. Keep this track in mind next time you plan a weekend getaway at the beach (you’ll thank us later).
