TR/ST returns with the hotly-anticipated _Destroyer - 2,_ the sequel to _Destroyer_ released earlier this year.
Double albums aren’t uncommon in the music industry. They’re seen as rites of passages for an artist, a period when their musical inspiration has reached such a creative zenith they can’t simply confine their ideas within the space of twelve to fifteen tracks. Rare, though, is releasing this double album in two wholly separate parts over the course of a year. Which is exactly the case for _Destroyer - 2_, the sequel to the eight-track long _The Destroyer (Part 1)_ released back in April.
TR/ST is, of course, the moniker used by Robert Alfons, a Toronto born musician now based in Los Angeles. Originally beginning as a duo with Maya Postepski, the project soon become his solo venture once she departed to pursue her own project Princess Century. For _The Destroyer_ albums, Alfons reunites with Postepski on a handful of the tracks. The album continues evolving the group’s signature synth-driven dark-wave sound they’ve perfected.
In anticipation of its release, TR/ST drops “Shame,” the latest single from the project. Check out the track below.
TR/ST’s music is best heard in the live experience, as their show’s amp up their already fantastic sound design. Celebrating the newest album, TR/ST performs at DTLA’s The Novo on November 1st.
