In today's society, the idea of gender relays ideas of inequality and stereotypes. The space between "male" and "female" unveils a path of conventional authority in the world around us. To battle the interpretations of masculinity and feminism the New Museum in New York is holding the art exhibition called _Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon._ It explores the notion of race, class, sexuality, and disability— giving birth to expansive and inclusive ideas.

The exhibit is curated by Johanna Burton and will feature the work of over 40 artists from around the world—including Josh Faught, Troy Michie, Ellen Lesperance, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Pauline Boudry, Renate Lorenz, and Candice Lin.
Burton states, “My experience of art is that its function is to make you feel not uncomfortable in a bad way, but to make you question your assumptions.”

The exhibition will be on view from September 27, 2017 to January 21, 2018, and will be published in a book of the same name on November 21.
