At 17 years old, Willa Amai is already living out her dreams. Not only that, but she uses her voice and platform for the greater good, speaking on her own personal mental health issues in hopes of inspiring others to feel okay about theirs as well. The Los Angeles native has been writing songs since 9 years old, and at 12 years she met multi-platinum award-winning, Grammy-nominated producer, Linda Perry… and the rest is history. “When listening to music, all I want to do is close my eyes and wait for the chord, melody or lyric that makes my heart ache. Willa Amai’s music breaks my heart in all the best ways possible…”

Today, she returns with the official music video for “TOO CLOSE,” her most recent single which will be found on her debut album arriving on June 4th. Her lyrics are raw and vulnerable, channeling her innermost thoughts and feelings while using music to be an escape for herself and for listeners.

Speaking on the visual, Willa states, “The ‘Too Close’ music video is absolutely everything I wanted it to be and more! Working with Nina Ljeti was an absolute dream, and she undoubtedly captured me in my most holistic form. What I really want people to see in the video is me. It’s as raw of a look at what it is to be my friend, to be around me, and that was important for this song because of how personal it is.”

“TOO CLOSE” is about claustrophobia, and everyone feels that in different ways. Willa hopes fans can see their own stories in the song, and take away something positive for themselves.
