The shining constellation of art institutions big and small in the city of Los Angeles is one of the things we at Flaunt most treasure about our hometown. It's especially lovely when they work together in concert to assemble something larger than the sum of its parts. Hence our excitement to hear the announcement of  "Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA", a new program lead by the Getty that incorporates over 70 local institutions to offer "a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles taking place from September 2017 through January 2018." The program was kicked off on Wednesday night with a cocktail reception at NeueHouse Hollywood, which included a performance by Latin-Grammy-nominated artist Ceci Bastida as well as appearances by the biggest names in the L.A. art scene. It will be far-reaching indeed--the Getty foundation will be "supporting performing arts programs organized by the LA Phil, The Music Center and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, with partner institutions presenting concerts, performances and events at the Hollywood Bowl, The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Walt Disney Concert Hall, Grand Park, and a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces throughout Los Angeles and the region.  The performances will expand the four-month-long celebration of Latin American and Latino art even beyond the wide circuit of its exhibitions at more than 70 institutions across Southern California." We're certainly looking forward to it. Pour yourself a glass of champagne and check out the gallery to toast the occasion with the art world crème de la crème, because we know you were too busy to attend, or maybe your invitation was lost in the mail? Either way, you were sorely missed. Written by Sid Feddema Photography by Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for Polskin Arts & Communications Counselors
