“[Will] is a unique, serious and committed actor who gives it all. He brings the strength and the fragility this character needed. A young man losing his innocence. On set he was focused, like an eagle. Off set, sweet, decent and adorable.” – Director Alejandro González Iñárritu, The Revenant
Examine CALIFUK trickster Will Poulter’s[2] rollicking eyebrows—(they’re practically alive!)—and you’ll catch the invisible seam of his Protean mask. Seventeen credits in eight years have taken this smirking diablo blanco from wry sincerity in Son of Rambow (2007); to bombastic regality in Narnia installment The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010); across the pond for antic parody of middle class America in We’re the Millers (2013); then turning North, and turning back time, forging into Canada for upcoming film The Revenant, a controversial retelling of 19th century native genocide directed by wunderkind Alejandro González Iñárritu. The young brit is rumored to have landed a role opposite Brad Pitt, no less, in War Machine, written and directed by David Michô for Netflix, in which Pitt, a four-star general, tries to win an "impossible" war in Afghanistan. Being sold as a black comedy, the denizens of CALIFUK are biting their nails to the quick to see how this could possibly turn out to be funny.
