LA’s young and old souls gathered together to celebrate the fourth of July with funk ‘n fireworks—and with a headliner like Nile Rodgers & CHIC, this was definitely a night to remember.
The three-day long, fourth of July celebration was a trip back to the 70’s and 80’s. People of all walks of life came together to watch the legend, who’s more than likely produced your favorite song, perform.

Rodgers, a three-time Grammy award winner, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, captivated the crowd with classic bops like “_I’m Coming Out_,” “_We Are Family_,” “_I Want Your Love_,” and Madonna’s “_Like A Virgin._” [Kimberly Davis](https://www.instagram.com/kimberlydavisofficial/) and [Folami](https://www.instagram.com/folami/?hl=en)’s hair-raising and soulful vocals was perfect cherry on top.
The [Los Angeles Philharmonic](https://www.instagram.com/laphil/?hl=en)’s orchestra opened the concert with a tribute to the men and women who are currently/or have served this country.
The second openers were [DRUMLine Live](https://www.instagram.com/drumlinelive_entertainment/?hl=en) —aka the talented dancers that danced alongside Beyonce during #Beychella (Coachella) last year. Their upbeat, and unforgettable dance moves, riled up the crowd just in time for Rodgers and CHIC’s long-awaited performance.

During the concert, Rodgers got emotional and spoke briefly about how lucky he felt performing at the Hollywood Bowl since becoming 100% cancer free. It was at this time where Rodgers asked the crowd to pull out their phones and turn on their flashlights.
> “Look up there! Look at it! \[stars\] That’s what it was like! Like right from out of the stars, I got a phone call from two Frenchmen called Daft Punk, and another gentleman named Pharrell Williams. We got together and we wrote some songs—and one of those songs was called ‘Get Lucky.’ And I can tell you, standing here, at the Hollywood Bowl in California, I feel like the luckiest man in the world, because I’m 100% cancer free.”

The memorable concert ended with a performance from the military band, and magical-like fireworks that lit up the entire sky.
