In the wake of the fires that seem to continuously ravage Southern California, homes have been left scorn by flames and many have lost irreplaceable and valuable belongings. In an effort to help rebuild the renowned artist [Lita Albuquerque’s](https://www.instagram.com/litaalbuquerque/) home which was lost to the 2018 Woolsey Fire, A LIBRARY FOR LITA invites people to donate books online and in person at the [Philosophical Research Society](https://www.prs.org). Writer Steffie Nelson and filmmaker Maximilla Lukacs conceived this in order to assist Albuquerque in coping with the loss of priceless items like family photographs, rare pigments, and hundreds of journals to be given to the Smithsonian.
A LIBRARY FOR LITA encourages people to donate from a list of Albuquerque's 100 essential books relating to art, science, metaphysics, spirituality, and the cosmos. Book donations can be made to her through the Philosophical Research Society’s e-commerce website. Donations can also be made at an evening with Lita Albuquerque this coming Sunday, November 17th. The evening will include a talk by Albuquerque herself as well as a welcome poem by Mandy Kahn, the Philosophical Research Society’s poet-in-residence.
The list of titles made to rebuild Albuquerque’s collection, as well as her own work, aligns with the Philosophical Research Society’s mission, which is home to one of the greatest esoteric libraries in the world. Dealing with the earth and sky, Albuquerque’s hopes to understand humanity’s position within the grandness of the universe.
