Singing in the rain? Try dancing in the rain. It was as if Ari Leff, Los Angeles-based artist most popularly known as Lauv, intended for all his songs to be enjoyed with water beating down on you; the drama it added was both appreciated and borderline comical. It was a true testament to how committed his fans were, and let me tell you, they were not going anywhere.
With his last tour being 3 years ago, last night we were greeted with an older and happier Ari. “Why did I spend so much time being afraid to fully be myself?” he says, in his most recent Instagram post. Whether it was through the encouraging chants of his fans, a self-realization or a combination of both, it seems like something has clicked during his time on tour. Without a trace of insecurity, Ari lit up the Greek Theatre stage with hugs and hops as the crowd sang along to favorites such as, “All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love),” “Modern Loneliness,” “I Like Me Better” and “I’m So Tired…”.
Standing in the drizzling rain, peeling hair off your face and soaking up every inch of water with your socks sounds unappealing until you pair it with a Lauv concert. With a special thank you to mother nature and the nostalgic voice of Lauv, the night was nothing short of cinematic.
