In a word, Sedona sonically embodies the divine feminine in all of us. Founded by lead singer Rachel Stewart (whose stage name is also Sedona), the project has evolved into an amoeba of many creative minds. Today, Sedona released “Closer,” a dreamlike dance bop that aligns with her dirty-pop sonic style and her natural warmth and openness to all that comes her way.

Sedona’s lyrics and melodies mirror the empowered atmosphere surrounding her due to the fact that she stands side by side with the most badass of them all - her bandmates. With Merilyn Chang (keys), Claire Gilb (guitar), Margaux Bouchegnies (bass), and Tia Cestaro (drums) coming together to form Sedona, the group can be seen flowing together both on and off stage, creating a look and sound that has a fierce punch of talent and camaraderie. Her creative director Wesley Goodrich is responsible for “Closer’s” album art along with many more projects in the works.

Sedona also calls upon the eyes of some of the most talented female photographers to create visuals that align with her hauntingly beautiful melodies. Photographer Nicole Chan took all of the group shots of the band while multi-disciplinary artist and photographer Nina Koyfman designed, built, and photographed the 200 pound strawberry you see in these photos as a part of her photo series.

Sedona has an unparalleled ability to connect with those around her through melody, not only with her listeners but also with herself. “If falling in love with your bad side and learning to make friends with your inner demons had a sonic lovechild, it would be ‘Closer’,” she stated. “This is what walking the line between self loathing and self loving sounds like.”

Although “Closer” is Sedona’s first single of 2020, they have a lot more in store for us with their debut EP, Rearview Angel, set to grace our ears sooner than later. We’re proud to premiere “Closer” right here, and we’ll be dirty-pop dancing to it until further notice.
