Elah Hale wanders around the desert and releases what she’s been holding close in the music video for her song “Holding You Close.” If you aren’t in the know about Elah Hale then its time for some schooling. Born in New York, Elah started her musical career at the ripe age of 5 when she first picked up a guitar. Since then it’s been an upward trajectory which included a stint at MILES (Music in the Lower East Side program), a brush with viral fame after she dropped the free-association song “Porsche, Hat, Cloud”, and vying for a theater major while attending Bard College. A significant moment in her career arrived when she discovered Bandcamp, realizing she could release music on her own accord. The ballad sees Hale singing from the heart, baring out her vulnerability for all to see. When asked about the song’s meaning, she states it’s about letting go. _I think love is really difficult, and you always try to get it right - especially when you’re young. This song about when that can’t happen; it’s frustrating and painful but important.
