Nonconformity has always been Yohji Yamamoto’s MO. From the full embrace of black to the romantic deconstructed tailoring of his endless sea of poets. The latest collaboration from the Japanese master is with similar anti-establishment icons Dr Martens, presenting their latest collaborative effort in celebration of the 60 year anniversary of Dr Martin’s 1460 remastered boot series.

The collaboration is an on going perfect fit as Yamamoto‘s designs complement the brand sensibilities, Having utilized the boots on his runways in the early 2000‘s the initial collaborations included redesigning the boots with the addition of a side zip. The unisex offering embraces the counter fashion symbol of the spider seen holding court amongst the laces, while an intricate web is etched on to the surrounding leather. The graphic nature of the shoe is a nod to Yamamoto‘s current design strategies which have explored and enlisted more graphic motifs juxtaposed to his sharply tailored constructions.
