"Road Trip": A Spring 2017 Allsaints Fashion Film

by Clayton Webster

Spring is here. Flowers emerge from the ground spreading a riot of color over our California hills. Our parks fill with sun-worshippers itching for some Vitamin D. The road, free of snow, promising verdant vistas and top-down cruising weather, uncoils in our minds, beckoning us. For the fashion-savvy, it is a time of loose fabrics, exposed shoulders, and showing some skin.

AllSaints has taken a creative approach to celebrating these rites of the season and the launch of its Spring women’s and menswear collections with Road Trip, a nostalgia-drenched fashion film set in southern Florida and filmed with a Super-8 camera. AllSaints creative director Wil Beedle shares his inspiration behind the project: “Rather than shooting the collection piece-by-piece in the confines of a city studio, we hired a truck and went out onto the road for a few days, capturing the collection in the setting and spirit in which it was initially conceived. The video footage and still images we shot are the documentation of the moment and the mood, and evoke the feeling of a scrapbook. Spontaneity, restlessness, endless possibilities – if only for a weekend.”

The creative project features items from the Spring collection including the Lemon Balfern Biker, Amy Skies Bomber, Base Bomber, Deirdre Ruffle Shirt and Ione Strip Tee, all available at us.allsaints.com.
