Founded in 2014 by Mieke Marple and Davida Nemeroff of Night Gallery, Sexy Beast is an art auction and benefit for Planned Parenthood Los Angeles. The empowering event returns to the Theater at Ace Hotel Los Angeles with host Andy Richter and honoree Dawn Porter, whose film _Trapped_ won the Social Impact award at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Over forty artists donated works to the auction, including L.A. legends Ed Ruscha, Barbara Kruger, and Larry Bell along with a younger in-demand clique of artists such as Dwyer Kilcollin, Margaux Ogden, and Claire Tabouret. "I wanted to be involved because sexuality, race and gender can determine what you have and what you don't, how long you live or how soon you die, whether you speak or whether you're silenced, whether you're allowed to laugh or can only fear, whether you use power or power uses you," said Barbara Kruger about Sexy Beast and Planned Parenthood.
