The solo project of Rasmus Littauer, School of X is a serious contender for becoming The Next Big Thing. His music is somewhere between Portugal the Man and MGMT, filled with shimmering pop sensibilities and glittering production. He’s not only got that cool international indie _je ne sais quoi_, but also the capacity to write a hook that’ll instantly get stuck in your head. His latest single, “Feel of It” is no exception. An indie pop banger featuring delicious hooks and an effortless summery vibe, “Feel of It” reminds me of Portugal the Man’s early stuff, but better. The upbeat major key and light-hearted backbeat radiates a new energy for the otherwise quite broody indie artist, and I for one am all for it. The story behind the song, however, is not all sunshine and rainbows.  Littauer states the record is “about the desire to break out of daily routines and boredom, craving for headspace, excitement and bigger emotions. It’s a desire that seduces me and haunts me and sometimes comes with a cost. Sometimes you end up all alone because you’ve been blinded by the light.” An upbeat pop anthem with a darker edge, “Feel of It” has to be one of my favorite tracks out this month. His debut record, _Dancing Through the Void_, is due out September 24th.
