It’s purely ethereal and elegantly chic, her designs are the patent on every cool girl donning a baggy crew neck walking down a city street. Where did she get that? It’s probably from Sandy Liang’s archive. Sandy Liang is releasing a collaboration along the skate staple, Vans, featuring apparel and various footwear styles that encapsulate 90s nostalgia. Sandy Liang x Vans will showcase a three week duration pop-up (2.21-3.15) including the Resort and Spring collections displayed throughout the runway at The General by Vans in Brooklyn.   Sandy Liang x Vans. Photo courtesy. **For your NYFW show, we saw many of the looks paired with a shoe that doesn’t normally occupy the NYFW space aka Vans, how do you feel skate shoes like Vans add a whole new personality to a look?** I think they add a sense of comfort and ease. **What is one thing from the 90s you would resurrect into the fashion world? I think mine would probably be Lisa Frank stickers and those robot dogs to walk a NYFW runway.** I think how everything seemed available less instantly is something I would bring back. Just the magic of dreaming about a dress or handbag and wanting it.  **In metropolitan cities such as New York or Los Angeles, we often see these marriages between high fashion + vintage shops + thrift stores and skate apparel, how does Sandy Liang define the nature of New York style?** I don't know how to answer that, but to me, I love how people dress in NYC. Photo courtesy. **I’m curious to know what was on your moodboard when you were imagining different designs for the Vans collaboration?** I looked back to my previous collections and pulled bits and pieces. **Can you describe for us the moment you felt yourself falling in love with developing a personal style + creating these inventive looks?** I think that's hard to answer because we are all constantly changing our minds and evolving when it comes to what we want to wear. **Who do you admire most when it comes to fashion?** Chinatown grandmas.
