The BLK LT$ is one of hip-hop’s secret weapons, a Grammy nominated engineer, the Toronto born producer is no stranger to the grind, earning her spurs behind the desk with some of hip-hop’s biggest names. The change-making self-taught producer has risen to work with the likes of Drake, Future, French Montana, Kodak Black, Saweetie, DMX and many others.
A mentor to emergent female producers and artists in hip-hop, she’s been fighting for equal opportunity and equal pay throughout the industry for her entire career, and advocating for more women to see production as a path to express their artistry.
Her most recent album, LT$-FI: LA GOON, is a lo-fi deep dive of entirely instrumental beats, perfect for soundtracking an end of summer hazy afternoon.
While her newest LP, Honey: The BLK LT$ Meets The Killa Bees, sees her delving deep into the discography of one hip-hops most iconic groups, Wu-Tang Clan, sampling classic Wu-Tang records and updating them in her own voice. She’s already tackled epics like C.R.E.A.M.24 and the latest single Real Talk, is a flip of the legendary All I Need by Method Man / Mary J Blige.
"This project is a love letter to one of my favorite groups of all time, the Wu-Tang Clan," The BLK LT$ shared. "During the pandemic, I needed something to re-ignite my creativity, so I began reinterpreting some of their classic tracks from a female perspective.
