Topical Cream’s Birthday Party | 50 Bowery
Despite early fair fatigue, or perhaps because of it, the New York art world and queer elite showed up strong for Topical Cream’s Birthday Party, celebrating the nonprofit’s six year anniversary of of advocating for women and gender non-conforming individuals in contemporary art.
Upon entering the hotel, damp party goers were welcomed by an eerie sound piece by Whitney Biennial artist Sahra Motalebi. The rooftop party honored artists Nicole Eisenman and Theresa Chromati.Guests dressed in latex and leather gossiped and sipped Illegal Mezcal on the rocks as Venus XDJ’d. Party hosts included Rhizome’s Aria Dean, poet Andrew Durbin, stylist Avena Gallagher, False Flag’s Jon Huddleson, designer Yulu, artist Lena Henke, activist Ser Serpas, and Marcella Zimmermann. Guests included Natasha Stagg, Emily Gruca, Chloe Wise, Richie Shazam, Willa Nasatir, Telfar, Adam Abdalla, Leilah Weinraub, Dena Yago, Dean Kisseck, Carl Swanson, RAFiA Santana, Jenny Cheng, and Tommy Saleh.
Around midnight, Topical Cream founder Lyndsy Welgos thanked the crowd for an amazing six years of with a cream birthday cake lit with a firecracker. Guests gathered on the dance floor, only stepping away to vape on the 12th floor balcony as they overlooked the city below. Happy birthday, Topical Cream!
