The Tom of Finland Foundation Arts and Culture Festival | Community Guidelines

by Natalie Lucas

The public of Los Angeles is welcomed to both experience art and support artists in The Tom Finland Foundation’s 24th annual Arts and Culture Festival. The festival, scheduled for October 5th & 6th, has a mission to protect, preserve and promote erotic art from around 50 artists.

One part of this year’s festival will be a presentation of the Community Guidelines exhibition. This exhibition gives artists the opportunity to show their works that have been censored on social media. Additionally, a panel discussion “How Do We Communicate On/With Social Media” will occur on Sunday afternoon. It will be moderated by Jennifer Tyburczy, the associate of Feminist studies at UC Santa Barbara, and will address the state of censorship and “community standards” in our society.

This year’s list of honourees includes Don Bachardy, Pierre Davis, Christopher Harrity, and Danny Fuentes. Sunday will see a presentation of awards, followed by a live art auction. The Festival will also feature a screening of Bruce LaBruce and Rick Castros' 1996 film Hustler White and including a Q&A with Castro.
