James Mountford | Last Common Ancestor

by Corrine Ciani

Multidisciplinary creative group NOH/WAVE presents James Mountford’s Last Common Ancestor, a solo exhibition of new works.

Set in a transitional space, Mountford’s latest body of work explores evolutionary theories of origins, creation, and morality through photography, sculpture, video, and live performance.

Mountford explores a form known as last common ancestor, which is the most recent population of organisms from which all organisms now living on earth have a common descendant.

"Therefore I should infer from analogy that probably all the organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have descended from some one primordial form, into which life was first breathed” -  On the Origin of Species, Charles Darwin

His exhibition will be on display February 16 through March 17.
