So many obvious factors have collided to make the return of live music after 2 years a special, albeit somewhat surreal experience. There is something fitting about this being my first indoor show (as it will be for many) coming out of the shutdowns.
For me, _Preoccupations_ have always inhabited their own category of music classification. They seem to exist outside “genre time” in a way few bands ever have, and their live shows are no exception.
_Metz_ is an incredible pairing for this tour and equally as impressive live. Their ability to own the stage with an evenly delivered power is incredible and they provide the quintessential “stripped down” show as if they invented it.
_Facs_ opened the night and were a huge surprise. They felt like a headliner waiting to happen. Pay attention to this Chicago band!
