The two young musicians were able to rack up the most awards (two each) among a room full of talented artists at the 2018 BRIT Music Awards on Wednesday, February 21. the night was hosted by British comedian Jack Whitehall. [Dua Lipa Gets Her Aura Read with Flaunt](http://www.flaunt.com/content/music/dua-lipa) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The event started on the red carpet, and in new Hollywood fashion, celebrities showed up with something to say. Many star attendees donned a white rose supporting the Time’s Up movement, which is meant to raise awareness of sexual assault, harassment and inequality in the workplace. To name a few, Justin Timberlake and Sam Smith sported a rose pin on their suit lapels, while others, such as Ellie Goulding and Millie Bobby Brown, simply held a single white rose in their hands. Dua Lipa also joined the red carpet movement by carrying a rose - and rocking an incredibly floofy dress. The English-born artist was the first winner of the night, snagging the British Female Solo Artist award right off the bat. She went on to win British Breakthrough Act, but was beat by Rag’n’Bone Man’s “Human” for British Single of the Year. > [This man @stormzyofficial won best album and best male tonight, and he couldn't deserve it more. He won British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year with his first studio album _Gang Signs & Prayer_. The underdog beat expected winner Ed Sheeran in both categories. The grime artist added to the political vibe of the night by criticizing British Prime Minister Theresa May in an impromptu freestyle rap in one of his acceptance speeches. Harry Styles was able to win the popular vote, earning him the award for British Artist Video Of the Year with “Sign of the Times.” Other award winners included Kendrick Lamar and Lorde for International Solo Artist (Male and Female), The Gorillaz for British Group, and The Foo Fighters for International Group. Past Brit favorite Ed Sheeran did not do so well in individual categories, but he did manage to take home the Global Success Award at the end of the night. * * * written by Sarah Smithy
