LA Phil Announces Power to the People! Festival
[LA Phil](https://www.laphil.com) plays a song a protest, resistance, and humanitarianism with the announcement of its _Power to the People!_ Festival. Between March 5 and April 11, 2020, LA Phil’s Music and Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and Creative Chair for Jazz Herbie Hancock will welcome musicians, artists, and activists for the festival. Coming from a broad range of musical and artistic backgrounds, the artists and activists represented here are all unified under one common theme: using your voice and platform to promote change. “Ever since my experience with El Sistema as a young boy in Venezuela, I have passionately believed in the power of music to unite, heal, and inspire us to build a better world...The extraordinary artists in this festival, each with their own unique vision of how art can change society for the better, serve as a powerful reminder that, no matter the challenges that face us, there is always hope for the future.” – Gustavo Dudamel _Power to the People!_ will feature performances from the LA Phil, Patti Smith and Her Band, Residente, Conrad Tao, Terence Blanchard, Ben Harper, and more. The festival will also feature talks, events, and performance art pieces from Imani Uzuri, A Noise Within, Dr. Angela Davis, and Seth Parker Woods and Spencer Topel. The festival is presented in collaboration with the California African American Museum and partnerships from A Noise Within, American Cinematheque, and Power California.  * * * _Power to the People!_ Festival will run in venues across Los Angeles from March 5 to April 11, 2020.
