The story of a Chicago couple landing in La La Land and a love that blossomed into a musical entity, American folk-pop duo GirlyBoi_,_ showed us in our _Aftershock Issue: New America_ that there are always bumps along the road, but that love conquers all.
In celebration of their latest single, "[Bonfire](https://open.spotify.com/track/0TkKeXPPRmOouT9lFa4VXC)_,"_ the couple gave a private performance to preview their upcoming debut album, releasing in October. Carly Russ and Joseph Matick, joined by their bandmates, hosted a private party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's Rosy Oyster on Thursday night (August 3) for a small group of selected invitees. Among the guests were model Tali Lennox, musician Ariel Beesley, Nick Hinman, Mark Hunter, and Dylan Peterson. Treated to specialty cocktails by [Stillhouse](http://stillhouse.com/), guests grooved the night away to GirlyBoi's feel-good tunes.
