Sixty years after her discovery rewrote the rules of what a model could look like, Twiggy returned to New York to celebrate the story behind the face that defined a generation.

Following an exclusive New York Fashion Week screening of TWIGGY in Tribeca on September 10, Twiggy and Frost hosted a gathering of roughly fifty guests at Sloane's, the cocktail lounge tucked onto the second floor of The Manner at 58 Thompson Street. It was a well judged choice. Sloane's is the sort of room New Yorkers tend to keep to themselves: easy to miss from the street, quietly glamorous once inside, and entirely at ease with famous faces who would rather talk than pose. Plush velvet banquettes, low flattering light and a palette of emerald, ruby and gold give it the feel of a private salon, and for a night honoring a woman who helped invent modern glamour, the setting felt less like a venue than a set piece.

The guest list brought together fashion, film, music and New York nightlife. Donna Karan, Norma Kamali, Nicole Miller, Frederick Anderson, stylist Phillip Bloch and photographer Ellen von Unwerth represented the fashion world, while Bobby Cannavale, Fran Drescher and Deborra-Lee Furness came from the screen and Steve and Maureen Van Zandt brought a note of rock and roll. Iris Law turned out for her mother's big night, and the banquettes filled with Richie Akiva, Julian and Merryn Schlossberg, Simon and Dena Hammerstein, David Stenn, Terry Singh, Richard Koenigsberg, Peter Gounis, David Stern, Sergio Farias, Kailyn Shepherd, Diana Madison, Ali Lasky, Kristin Borland and Eytan Rockaway.

Sloane's bar team built the menu around the guest of honor. The Twiggy, an espresso martini made with Absolut Vodka, set the tone, followed by The Fashion Staple, the lounge's signature dirty martini, and The Absolut Icon, a grown up spin on the Dirty Shirley. It is a neat summary of what Sloane's does best: familiar classics reimagined with more wit and polish, served alongside indulgent small plates made for lingering. Sloane's red and white house wines and Château Sainte Marguerite Symphonie Rosé were poured throughout, with Rabbit Hole Bourbon on hand for those who asked.

Directed by Frost, TWIGGY traces its subject's journey from a London upbringing to the sudden international fame that made her one of the world's first truly global supermodels. The film moves beyond the familiar photographs, exploring her work across fashion, film, television and theater, and the relationships that shaped her life away from the camera.

Her arrival in the 1960s marked a sharp break from the prevailing image of the fashion model. With her cropped hair, wide eyes and slender frame, Twiggy became inseparable from the visual language of London's youthquake. The documentary argues that America made her permanent, carrying a British sensation from magazine covers and television to Broadway, and eventually to a new generation who knew her from the judging panel of America's Next Top Model.

Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney, Dustin Hoffman, Brooke Shields, Sienna Miller and Charlotte Tilbury all appear, placing Twiggy within a wider history shaped by music, cinema, beauty and the shifting expectations placed on women in the public eye.

The film is Frost's second feature documentary after QUANT, her portrait of Dame Mary Quant, the designer whose miniskirts Twiggy famously wore. Together the two films reveal Frost's abiding interest in the women who defined 1960s Britain. She is now directing QUADROPHENIA, on the legacy of The Who's 1973 rock opera.

Arriving in the 60th anniversary year of her discovery, the night offered a rare chance to look back on a life that reshaped fashion, over a very good martini.

TWIGGY is released in the U.S. by Cleopatra Entertainment on DVD and VOD platforms on September 22, 2026.
