There are so many times throughout his harrowing personal journey that The Quarantine’s lead singer Sean Martin could have permanently slipped between the cracks into the shadow of society.  While his story of surviving war, homelessness, and the oppression of a system designed to stifle opportunity is shared by many, the impacts of Martin’s PTSD left him practically paralyzed with little to no options for his future ahead.  Reaching a point where even just living his own daily life became too much to handle, Sean realized that if he didn’t find a way to make a change soon, that it was fair to assume he wouldn’t survive for very much longer.  Weary, but not willing to go gentle into that good night, he started putting pen to paper from a new angle that allowed him the opportunity to say everything he always wanted to say, from a perspective that was extremely raw and honest, that detailed so much of what he’d been through.  By understanding how extraordinarily different his perspective had become as a result of the life that he had lived, Martin was able to break through to the other side & finally begin to heal himself.

Perhaps even more importantly, he recognized that his own traumatic story could assist others that were going through similar circumstances, and he found strength through his catharsis.  Writing a series of insightfully revealing and scathingly relatable songs for his band The Quarantined, Sean could truly feel some of the weight of his mental burden starting to subside while an exciting and new sense of purpose simultaneously fueled him.  Each time he wrote something new, the pain inside him seemed to have just a little less power over him, and so the more he was able to write, the more he emancipated himself from the brutal cage of his trauma and the devastating isolation he experienced with his PTSD.

When The Quarantined’s single “Skeleton Chair” went viral all around the globe and amassed more than a million views on Tik Tok alone, it became crystal clear that Sean’s special combination of vulnerability and fearlessness was resonating strongly in the hearts and minds of listeners found all around the world.  Having been pushed to his breaking point brought him to a place where he had nothing left to lose, and nothing left to fear – and with each song that he wrote, the pain would subside just a little more.  Sean would hear inspiring stories from fans who were battling their own struggles, and they would mention how listening to The Quarantined brought them a sense of relief they had long sought out.  Forming an everlasting bond with his audience through shared experiences, and honest material that reflected how difficult the journey back to a tiny semblance of functionality can be for those that go through traumatic situations – The Quarantined makes music for those that desperately need to find a spark of light within the dark.  With the release of their gripping new single “Shadow” in August, Sean & his band continue to fight against all forms of systemic oppression, and emphasize the supreme importance of mental health.

No longer feeling afraid, limited, or stacked against the odds, The Quarantined are proudly speaking up on behalf of people all over the world that have had their well-being threatened by a system designed to hold them back.  With each day that passing, they’re further embracing their voice as a band, knowing they’re on the right side of history, with each and every one of YOU right there by their side.  A force to be reckoned with – no government can hold them back, and they cannot be suppressed – they now fight the battle against oppression directly with you, to bring about the change that we all collectively need.
