From the dust of Stagecoach to the neon haze of EDC, MOONLGHT is emerging as one of 2025’s most exciting new artists. He bridges two worlds not often found on the same lineup. The Dutch-born, Nashville-based DJ, producer, and songwriter, known offstage as multi-platinum talent Stefan Schonewille, is redefining what EDM can sound like. By blending the grit of classic rock and country with high-octane dance production, MOONLGHT crafts nostalgic anthems built for the modern rave.
His rise hasn’t come from chasing trends, but from reshaping them. From a viral remix of “Free Bird” to his recent rework of Trace Adkins’ “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” MOONLGHT is known for transforming familiar songs into dance-ready festival tracks. After his remix of “Free Bird” went viral, he followed up with a rework of “There She Goes” (with CYRIL and The La’s), which has organically earned over 2.4 million TikTok creates.
“I love that feeling of nostalgia,” MOONLGHT says. “So I’m blending the timeless energy of old records with the punch and polish of modern production.”
That creative formula has resonated far beyond TikTok. His reimagined flips have amassed millions of streams, landed him spots on some of the biggest festival stages in the country, including Stagecoach, Beyond Wonderland, and EDC Las Vegas. In addition, it’s earned him a growing cult following that spans country fans, rave kids, and everyone in between.
“I want to take listeners back to a really good time in their life,” he continues. “And with the original songs, I want to give them new memories, whether it's at a show or just listening in their car.
With a packed festival schedule, original releases on the way, and a clear vision for where he’s headed, MOONLGHT is redefining the space in between.
