Leia Contois' journey through the worlds of music and fashion is a story that has inspired people from around the globe, as fans look to connect with their favorite artists in a more personal and unfiltered way.
"Music is the core of my existence," Leia shares. This fundamental connection to her craft is evident as she recounts the genesis of her latest hit, "So Deep", a collaboration with the brilliant Cristina Lazic. "It started with a simple a cappella, a melody that felt like the echo of my soul," she explains. Cristina, weaving her magic, crafted a beat around Leia's vocal, resulting in a track that's both a chart-topper and a personal triumph.
When asked about her latest hit single, she expressed: “I’m super honored that Damian placed us on the Spirits Rebels VI album along with many other talented artists. Honestly, when I first saw Cristina, I was blown away by her talent, and I knew right away that I wanted to work with her. I didn’t know that our first project would be chosen by Damian, but I knew we would do something together and someone somewhere would love us,” Leia affirms.
Recently, she captivated audiences in a memorable show in Guadalajara, Mexico, adding to the impressive list of venues and international hot spots where she has already performed. As Leia has managed to overcome significant challenges and setbacks, she looks forward to treating her fans to more memorable performances as she makes plans for her upcoming European tour dates.
It must be acknowledged that Leia's influence stretches beyond the turntables and microphones; it permeates the dance music community. Her live performances are often described as immersive experiences that connect deeply with her audience. As she plans her new projects, Leia's focus is clear: "It's about connection—between the music, the people, and the moments we create together."
The music muse´s path has been significantly shaped by her association with Crosstown Rebels, a label synonymous with cutting-edge electronic music. Her debut with the label at Red Rocks was a turning point, cementing her status as a trailblazer in the electronic music scene.
But it's not just about the beats. Leia's personal symbol, a dragonfly, represents transformation and the enduring influence of her late mother. "It's a reminder that she's always with me, in every note I play," Leia says, her logo a testament to personal loss and enduring love.
Yet, the journey hasn't been without its challenges. Recently, health issues have forced Leia to balance her intense career with the need for personal well-being. "It's been tough, but it's taught me the value of health—both physical and mental," she admits. Despite these obstacles, her resilience has shone through, proving her determination to thrive in the face of adversity.
Leia's enthusiasm for her upcoming projects is palpable. With a new album in the pipeline and collaborations that promise to push the boundaries of dance music, her narrative is far from over. “I recently finished recording an album, which I am super excited to share with everyone. I worked with the extremely talented producer Sam Barsh and singer/songwriter/producer DWY. Both of these guys are crushing it, and I am so thankful to have had them produce my album with me. I have been waiting my whole life to lay down a full album, release it, and do a full tour,” she expresses.
