Milwaukee’s own Fordo (@fordomusic) is done asking for permission. With the release of his debut album 2001, the pop/rap newcomer plants his flag firmly in the space where Y2K nostalgia meets unfiltered emotional truth. And the result is a record that feels as intimate as a voice memo and as explosive as a summer anthem.

Named after the year he was born, 2001 is a mission statement. Fordo reinterprets the music that raised him through a Gen Z lens. He delivers a candid storytelling style that invites listeners to sit with their feelings rather than scroll past them.

“I walk the line between my own vulnerability and confidence,” Fordo shares, speaking to the core of the project. “Being born in 2001, that era shaped me and it shows in the music I make.”

Nowhere is that duality more present than on the breakout single “Nobody’s Watching.” Produced by the acclaimed Victor Thell, the track became a viral moment after a teaser racked up over 1.5 million TikTok views. Thus, proving that Fordo’s honest reflections are resonating with a generation craving authenticity. The song’s message? Real connection will always outshine the curated highlight reel.

Structured like a coming-of-age diary, 2001 takes listeners through the messy beauty of figuring it all out. Love, heartbreak, mistakes, and evolution. “It’s like flipping through chapters of growing up,” Fordo says. “It’s the most complete version of myself I’ve put into music so far.”

Fordo’s appeal lies in his ability to be both a mirror and a hype man. He’s holding space for heartbreak while reminding fans to turn the volume up. “Fordo is for the people who miss when music made you feel something,” he adds. “For those done asking permission to be themselves, and for anyone ready to have fun again.”

In a saturated landscape, 2001 doesn’t just break through the noise. It throws it back, slows it down, and makes you feel something. Fordo is here, and he’s just getting started.
