Weekend Recall | John The Blind

by Morgan Vickery

Released on May 10, a self-titled EP John The Blind by LA songwriter/producer John Henry Ryan II is a culmination of his multi-decade musical journey. The short album includes two other notable tracks, “Hallelujah” and “Two Months”, that created buzz in the music industry.

Having produced singles that topped music charts for artists such as Harry Styles, Maroon 5, John Legend and Niall Horan, it was only natural for him to eventually start working on his own music project. “I didn’t feel like I was exercising my whole creative muscle,” he says of the years spent principally writing songs for other artists, and simultaneously penning what became John The Blind songs in the evening hours. “I still had stuff that I needed to get off my chest.”

The musician plans to tour in 2019, continuing with this uninhibited, enthused approaching to the craft of song-making that has shaped the John The Blind project. As he prepares for what’s to come, the artist shares a photo diary of his weekend at the Palm Springs Songwriting Camp.
