Born Tyron Frampton, the 24 year old artist has hit the ground running, and his footprints have lasted worldwide. Growing up 60 miles outside of London, Slowthai’s music is a raw and unapologetic mix of grime, punk, and personal liberation- or as I like to say, an aesthetic of “I-Don’t-Give-A-Fuck-ery.” His debut album, _Nothing Great About Britain,_ released late last month shortly after the release of Tyler The Creator’s “IGOR,” which Frampton lent a helping hand on. His collaborations extend to include Mura Masa, SKEPTA, and Flume. Although embodying a clear flippancy for the expected, his lyrics have cultural relevance and accents of activism as well. Slowthai quite literally blessed us on Wednesday with his sold out show at The Echo. From pouring “holy water” on the crowd below, taking his shirt off by the second song, and controlling the crowd like I’ve never seen before, the rising star seemingly gave himself a warm welcome to Los Angeles while bringing Britain along with. If you can catch Slowthai on any of his worldly endeavors coming up then be ready to be touched by his impactful lyrics as well as by his own arms and legs as he crowd surfs his way to societal stature.
