Hermès x Lucy Sparrow Holiday Window
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to begin holiday celebrations, once the whole family gathers and feasts on the grand meal, some might run off for a drink, other’s may nap. Though for any fashion fiend a stroll to see holiday window displays always provided the ultimate visual post-meal treat.
This year Hermès celebrated the launch of their Beverly Hills flagship's window display with the help of British contemporary artist Lucy Sparrow who installed her felted creations at the famed luxury leather temple. One window featured a claw crane constructed out of wool, with the highly coveted leather bags camouflaged in a pile of detailed wool replicas. A candy display in another window presented large vessels filled to the brim with woolen confections to highlight the selection of iconic enamel jewelry.
Sparrow's work of crafted felt and wool is sure to delight passerby’s. She believes, “felt will be the perfect vehicle to convey the true holiday spirit and excitement of this time of year. I want for people to stop walking in their tracks and notice the display and be intrigued to find out more. It’s supposed to capture the playful nature of the felt.” The collaboration between Hermès and Lucy Sparrow is a perfect match playfully honoring craft and intricacies with a touch of the surreal.
