Gucci | Hortus Deliciarum

by Jalyn Eaton

Inspired by the kaleidoscopic world of creative director Alessandro Michele, , Gucci’s first line of high jewelry, Hortus Deliciarum is a garden in full bloom. With over two hundred mostly one-of-a-kind pieces, each stone featured in this new collection was chosen for its spiritual properties.

Thematically, Hortus Deliciarum pays homage to eternal love and the animal kingdom. Each jewel is placed in what Alessandro Michele describes as “discordant symmetry”, an ode to the fact that neither love nor animal behavior is based on perfection. The high jewelry line uses the strength of the lion, the courage and passion of the Tiger, the knowledge and regeneration of ouroboros, and the mystique of Dionysus to reflect the classical motifs of Gucci.

Hortus Deliciarum’s diamond encrusted garden of flowers, leaves, and wildlife can be found at Gucci’s new Place Vendôme boutique in Paris, France.
