In another life I am an Italian fisherman living on the island of Capri. Cruising around the rugged landscape and upscale hotels by day and sipping limoncello by sunset. It is not the sheer glamor of the shops and their visitors, it is the striking landscape dotted with caves and coves. A life full of simple beauty and the chance to experience each day completely unburdened, so far from the overwhelming focus on productivity and hustle in the rest of the world.
This is the daydream Michael Kors wants you to experience when staring at its new spring/summer 2024 collection and ad campaign. Photographed on the Italian island of Capri by Dutch duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the rich history and style of Capri whisks you away. Short and leggy, soft and floor sweeping; the line is filled with goddess gowns, side slashed skirts and breezy caftans. The makeup is a simple black and white with touches of glimmering metallics and gladiator sandals finishing each look. This line may be a little fancier than my initial fisherman daydream.
The new campaign stars Italian supermodel Vittoria Ceretti as she lives the Italian dream. Michael celebrates its first shoot on Capri and features spotlight images as La Fontelina and an Italian villa along the Via Tragara. It is easy to pick up the theme of barefoot glamour from a quick glance at the campaign.
Accessories are necessary to complete any good outfit which is why Jane Birkin’s hand woven bucket bag makes an appearance. A series of travel messenger bags, shoulder bags and accessories also compliment Michael’s vision.
The campaign will be found on social media, digital outlets and select print ads in spring issues. While not all our fantasies of living out our days on the island of Capri can be realized, I hope Michael's new collection can get us close enough.
