It was an East Coast invasion at the sold-out El Rey on Thursday night as Virginia Beach fan favorites Turnover delivered their laid back oceanside vibes to an ecstatic crowd who crooned along with lead singer Austin Getz. The set included a nonstop mosh-pit, stage diving, and impromptu performance by lead singer Brendan Yates, who sang amongst the riled revelers. Turnover had the crowd united in a massive sing-a-long for the majority of the set, playing much loved tracks like “Dizzy on the Comedown,” and “Humming.” Austin Getz’s pitch-perfect vocals never sounded better as the rhythm section, headed by Casey Getz and Danny Dempsey, kept the songs chugging along at a head-bobbing pace. Although the band forewent the traditional encore, the audience filtered outside on the warm, spring night, content with the eclectic night of music to which they had all bore witness.
