The American artist, Sterling Ruby just announced his latest project [S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA](https://srstudio.com). Set to launch in June, the collection will be comprised of both women’s and men’s ready to wear as well as a selection of accessories inspired by his artworks of sculptures, quilts, backdrops and garments. This marks the first time Ruby has gone on his own in creating garments. Previously he has worked with longtime collaborator and friend Raf Simons on an acclaimed and highly collectable collection for the designers namesake brand as well as textiles for Dior Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2012, during Simons’ tenure at the house. More recently his work was used for the advertisements and show design for Calvin Klein 205W39NYC.
About his approach to fashion Sterling has said, “I’ve always been interested in the behavioral power that comes with clothing. For years I have been privately exploring garments as a medium, as something that impacts the way one can think, feel, and move. I couldn’t be more excited to finally put my clothing out into the world.”
