Last night we toasted the legacy art program ART AT GEN ART's re-launch at the Mondrian South Beach with a live art installation by the London-based William Mackrell entitled "Arrival,"—a continuation of his LipSync series—where he documented his journey from London to Miami by painting on the wall of the hotel lobby with his lips.
Additionally, Brooklyn-based collective Dawn of Man projected visuals of Mackrell's work alongside site-specific material on the hotel's poolside cabanas and the giant pool filled with ping-pong balls (didn't we have a dream about that once?).
As the humidity dropped off and the evening turned breezy, we found ourselves sipping Peroni by the ping pong pool alongside Gaia Matisse, Kyra Kennedy and Karen-Eileen Gordon.
Much better than that other dream.
