Weekend Recall: Independent Singer-Songwriter Emeryld
Los Angeles based singer/songwriter Emeryld, is emerging from the independent music scene, making her mark on the industry with powerful vocals. After graduating early from high school, Emeryld bought a one-way ticket to Los Angeles and never looked back.
“I had no friends at one point because of petty mean girl bullshit," she says, reflecting on childhood memories. "I would either come home crying to my piano or fake sick to write songs in my music room all day.” Music became her escape from reality, but it was LA that guided her to find like-minded people to cultivate their creativity through music. “That’s when I realized how powerful music is to me," she adds. "It was my light at the end of the tunnel, the perspective of things being temporary, my only claim of confidence. I quickly found out it was like that for many others as well, I wasn't alone in my ‘fantasy land.'”
While working as an independent artist, Emeryld has played numerous venues and festivals including SXSW, Austin City Limits, and House of Blues Los Angeles and Dallas. In the past month, she has released two singles paving the foundation of her burgeoning music career. We had Emeryld take us into her weekend to get a taste of her "fantasy land" in the city of angels.
