“Magnetic,” the debut single from up and coming British Alternative singer Annabel Jones, confronts societies ideals of masculinity, gender roles, and relationship norms. The accompanying video conveys the pre night-out ritual of a cross dressing male getting ready for a night on the town. The juxtaposition of images of a conventional man with that of the women he has made himself to be challenge the viewer’s idea of what a true man is.
Says Jones of the film's concept:“What does it take to be a man? What makes a woman? I wanted to tell a Cinderella story that felt a little different and challenged the broken ideals I saw some of the men and women in my life facing. We need to change the way we raise our boys and girls. Love wins.”
Jones is certainly poised to make waves in the industry. With the blend of her melodic voice and daring approach to story telling she is definitely one to look out for.
