Miss Texas Doesn't Hold Back in 2018 Miss America Pageant When Asked About Trump and Race
Miss America pageants are known for having beauty, grace, and (as of last night) strong political opinions. During the question and answer segment of the 2018 Miss America Pageant, Miss Texas, Margana Wood, was asked the following question:
"Last month a demonstration of Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the KKK, in Charlottesville, Virginia turned violent and a counter protestor was killed. The President said there was 'shared blame with very fine people on both sides.' Were there?"
Her response was direct, strong, and emotionally felt. Miss Texas responded that it was obvious that it "was a terrorist attack" and that "President Donald Trump should have made a statement earlier." She continued to state that the number one issue right now is making all Americans feel safe in this country.
Coming from an extremely conservative state it is great to see that Miss Texas is standing up for what she believes in. Although Margana did not win, she did make a big impression. Her platform "You Belong" aims to create a judgement free generation where everyone feels accepted.
