Atlanta born Katelyn Nacon has spent her most defining years as a teenage girl performing in front of a camera, a task not too far off from surviving the zombie apocalypse. The seventeen year old star has been a force to reckoned with since an early age, as a firecracker of a performer ready to ignite at any moment. Her biggest spark may be landing her role as Enid, the mysterious teen who has been through way too much on AMC’s The Walking Dead. Showing the world that she can outlive her loved ones and defeat herds of walkers with precision and poise speaks to her badass-ery within her character and as a perfumer overall. Afraid of nothing, Katelyn was down to answer some of our questions about her life as a zombie/career/style slayer.  **What was it like first hearing that you booked a role on the huge AMC series that is The Walking Dead? Were you a fan of the show before you got involved?** When I found out I was going to be Enid, I cried for a straight hour, just non stop tears. I hadn’t seen the show before then, but was just so happy that I got to play a character I had completely fallen in love with. **Enid is a quiet and mysterious character. Would you say you can relate to her yourself?** I mean I would say I’m more introverted but that would probably be the most mysterious thing about me. Otherwise I’m a pretty open book and a continuous stream of sarcasm. **What would you not be able to survive without if the Zombie Apocalypse were to happen in real life?** Running water and electricity. I don’t know about you but I’m extremely dependent on those, and if I could have those in the zombie apocalypse I think I’d have a pretty good life considering dead people are constantly trying to eat me. **As an Atlanta Native, what was it like shooting The Walking Dead in your home town?** Wonderful! I love Georgia with all my heart, and being able to continue growing up there like a regular kid, go to the same school with my friends, and being so close to my family meant the world to me. I don’t know how I got so lucky with it all, but I’m extremely grateful. **I’ve heard that you have a continued interest to play characters from other comic series such as Batgirl. Have you always loved comic series?** I have always loved comic series, especially the ones with superheros. When I was growing up my dad and I would watch Justice League, Teen Titans, and all those shows together. To this day we watch all the animated movies being made and released by DC and Marvel. **A lot of people don't know that you not only have a passion for acting, but for singing and song writing as well. How do you intersect these creative talents together?** Honestly my singing and acting have been pretty seperate so far throughout my career, however if it wasn’t for singing, I would have never gotten into acting. Singing lead me to start doing musical theater which in turn made me learn to act. Then I fell in love with acting and have been extremely happy doing it ever since. **The entire series of The Walking Dead has made a huge jump recently. What was it like having portray such a jump in time as your character first entered the show as a young girl growing up in the Apocalypse?** Well I gotta say I think it’s the only time in my career I’ll actually play a character older than me. It’s been really fun though and exciting to try and develop Enid into a young woman. Creating a feeling of maturity but still staying true to that young kid we use to know and love. **What is it like portrayed a strong, badass female character in the current cultural climate?** I think no matter the cultural climate it’s absolutly amazing to play such a badass female. No matter what’s going on in the world, women and girls should always be able to see someone strong and powerful that they can say I am that girl or someday I’ll be that girl. Also I just like being sassy it’s fun. * * * Photographed by [Tiziano](https://www.instagram.com/tizianolugli/?hl=en) Styled by [Luca Kingston](https://www.instagram.com/luca__kingston/?hl=en) Hair by [Michael Kanyon](https://www.instagram.com/michaelkanyon/) Makeup by [Merav Adler](https://www.instagram.com/makeupbymerav/?hl=en)
