_Insecure’s_ Issa Rae is the newest face of Covergirl. This will be the first beauty gig for the multi-talented writer, director, actress and producer. Rae made the announcement through an Instagram photo this morning and we couldn’t be happier.
She captioned the post “I remember being an awkward black girl in high school, reading the pages of my favorite magazines, casually flipping through @COVERGIRL ads, singing their slogan in my head. Never EVER in my life did I imagine I’d be one. I am SO honored and SO excited for what’s to come."

Rae gained stardom with her web series _Awkward Black Girl_ which led to the creation of _Insecure_, which recently aired its season two finale on HBO. She made history as the first black woman to create and star in a scripted series for the premium cable channel. Rae is also is the author of New York Times best-selling memoir, _The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl_, which was published in 2015.
